Welcome!
Hi, I am Tyesha, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A). I started my career in education over a decade ago as a classroom teacher, where I spent six years learning just as much from my students as I hope they learned from me. Those years taught me the power of connection, the importance of creating safe spaces, and how much context matters when someone is struggling.
After six years in the classroom, I transitioned into school counseling, where I spent four years supporting students through academic challenges, social-emotional growth, and big life decisions about their futures. What struck me most during this time was how often the barriers students faced weren't just personal, they were systemic. That realization deepened my commitment to advocacy and shaped how I approach counseling today.

Now, as an LPC-A, I bring that same holistic perspective into the work I do with clients. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we address not only what's bringing you pain or stress right now, but also work together to build practical skills and uncover pathways toward lasting change. Our sessions will move at your pace, in a way that feels comfortable and right for you.
I'm passionate about understanding the whole picture, your strengths, your story, and the systems and structures that may be impacting your well-being. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and equipped to navigate whatever you're facing.

WORK EXPERIENCE

I have over a decade of experience in education and counseling. I began as a classroom teacher for six years, building inclusive environments and strong relationships with students and families. I then served as a school counselor for four years, supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and college and career development.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I provide counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I work with clients navigating addiction, anxiety, behavioral challenges, depression, and coping skills development.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Bachelor's Degree in Counseling (Prairie View A&M University, 2021)
I'm committed to ongoing learning and staying current with evidence-based therapeutic practices.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE
My professional interests go beyond individual counseling, I'm deeply committed to systems advocacy and addressing the structural barriers that impact access, equity, and well-being in both educational and mental health settings. Long-term, I aspire to contribute to the field as a university professor, where I can mentor future counselors and advance research that promotes meaningful systemic change.
I believe everyone deserves support that honors who they are and where they're trying to go. I'm grateful to be part of that process with my clients.
WHAT IS A LPC-A?

An LPC-Associate is a counseling professional who has completed a master's degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited program and has passed the National Counselor Examination (NCE), but is still in the process of completing the required supervised clinical experience hours to become a fully licensed Professional Counselor in Texas.
Under the regulations of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, LPC-Associates work under the supervision of a board-approved LPC-Supervisor while accumulating the necessary 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. During this time, they can provide counseling services in various settings such as mental health clinics, private practices, or community organizations.
LPC-Associates often specialize in areas like individual counseling, couples therapy, or substance abuse treatment, gaining valuable hands-on experience while working towards full LPC licensure.
