My name is Dr. Maritza Johnson and I am an LMSW in supervision for LCSW. I enjoy helping clients learn their strengths and use them in the time of crisis and life circumstances. I use an authentic and empathetic approach with my clients as well as be present and in the moment. I utilize the client centered approach with my clients to help them gain their control back. I am an a student intern working towards my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I attend Houston Baptist University, or HBU for short. I’m passionate about helping others. I truly believe that my purpose in life is to aid those in need in anyway I can. Since my time at HBU, I have expanded my skills and expertise in the various types of therapy. I have experience with individual, group, and couples therapy. Throughout my academic journey, I have gained many resources and tools in order to be an effective counselor. I have experience working with individuals who suffer from trauma, anxiety and depression.

I am a student intern pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. Currently, I am enrolled in University of Houston-Downtown. I have served as a Military Police Officer in the Army Reserves for eleven years. My objective is to further my studies and aid Veterans with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I think that therapy promotes, encourages, and supports health, and I want to take an active part.
