“Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be; embrace who you are.” Brené Brown
Hello! My name is Jacky, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker passionate about providing comprehensive mental health support. My vision involves creating a safe and nurturing space for individuals, couples, and families to explore life's challenges together. With empathy and support, we'll overcome obstacles and foster growth and empowerment. My counseling style is client-centered, which means you will play an active part in directing the sessions and working together to set goals.
I have experience in a school setting with students that have recently entered the US. Each school has their own challenges, but these students have limited experience with formal education so building trust and communicating was essential to that role. Supporting newcomer students often involves collaborating with other professionals, such as teachers, interpreters, parents and community organizations. While interning at an oncology hospital I had the opportunity to provide emotional support, helping clients navigate their emotions, cope with fear and anxiety, and maintain a positive outlook.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
My formal training includes undergraduate degree in Social Work from Texas Southern University and a Masters of Social work from the University of Houston. I have a strong foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance Commitment therapy (ACT).
ON A PERSONAL NOTE
I enjoy practicing yoga, crocheting, reading the stars and books.
