ABOUT KATHERINE

“Life can be, and at times is full of surprises and difficulties, but that doesn’t mean it has to stop or go in an undesired direction forever. Everyday is an opportunity for a new beginning; a new direction. It begins with you.”

Welcome!

My name is Katherine Fields and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate. Having lived in a variety of places around the world including Panama, Argentina, Italy and Japan, I've worked intermittently as a counselor since 1995.

I specialize in working with children, adolescents and their families offering guidance, crisis intervention, social/emotional learning, boundary setting, guidance for learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Eating Disorders, anxiety and depression.

My expertise includes setting boundaries, entrepreneurship, learning disabilities, eating disorders and generalized anxiety.

I utilize integrated, strength based, solution focused therapies to promote overall health and well being, I offer guidance in helping people set
and reach realistic goals.

WORK EXPERIENCE

In 2011, I partnered with the Austin Independent Schools as a counselor and dyslexia therapist and in 2017, I resigned from the Austin Independent School District to open a small coffee shop in the hill country of Texas. Had to close her doors for good after the pandemic hit in 2020. Life can be, and is hard, but that doesn’t mean it has to stop or go into an undesired direction indefinitely. I am returning to the exciting world of work in the helping profession (my first love) as a licensed professional counselor associate.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

My formal training includes a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology  from Chaminade University of Honolulu as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Eastern Connecticut State University.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Outside of work, my routine includes getting at least 8 hours of sleep, starting the day with a good strong cup of coffee followed by a quiet walk and prayer. Somewhere in the day, and it varies, I hop onto the elliptical and do a 20 minute workout. This sets the tone of my day which allows me to handle the unexpected from
a stronger vantage point. Being a believer that we are triune persons made of body, mind and soul, I feel taking care of these three components is important. When one part is neglected, the others are affected as well.

WHAT IS A LPC-ASSOCIATE?

*An LPC-Associate is a temporarily licensed professional counselor. LPC Associates hold a Master's degree in counseling or related field, have undergone a 500+ hour practicum, and have successfully passed the National Counselor Exam (NCE). In the state of Texas, Interns must complete 3,000 hours of additional supervised counseling experience before they can receive full licensure and practice independently with out a supervisor.
