“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”

-Viktor Frankl

My name is Cosima Robinson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Chemical Dependency Counselor.  I am passionate about offering support, a kind ear, and guidance to all in need.

I specialize in assisting clients with substance use disorders, life transitions, depression, anxiety, and more.  I enjoy working with my clients, supporting them through life events, and providing them with skills to navigate through the events that may occur on the journey of life.

My goal is to provide a safe and healing environment, and provide the opportunity to achieve a greater degree of independence and integration, through the building of coping, problem-solving, and goal-focused skills.

My counseling approach is based on a combination of person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy.  Through collaboration with clients, techniques are utilized and adjusted to best serve the client’s unique needs.

In addition to private practice, I also counsel dual-diagnoses patients, recovering from substance abuse and mental illness.  I have also worked with patients in residential and intensive outpatient hospitals, incarcerated individuals, victims of domestic violence, and at-risk youth and families.

My formal training includes a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Lamar University.

I enjoy playing the flute and piano in my spare time.  I also enjoy exercise, literature, and spending time with friends and family.  Supporting others has always seemed to come naturally to me.  I believe that I was drawn to this career for a reason, and I desire to make a difference.  Be well!
